Our Greek school staff thoroughly enjoyed an interesting seminar by the award winning professor of Educational Psychology at the U of A, Dr. George Georgiou! We thank him so much for his insight on reading strategies. It was also important to note that there is research to suggest that engaging in phonological activities in Greek school actually helps students acquire better literacy in English school. One reinforces the other! While this is not the case with all languages, we are fortunate because of how clearly Greek is based on distinct sounds corresponding with specific letters.
